Magazine Action Planning
What I plan to call my magazine?
RECORD MAGAZINE; This title has two meanings to it, the word record symbolises the way in which music is taken and made into the CD's and downloads that we are familiar with however a record was an old fashion way of playing music as well with the use of the record player. This idea brings the magazine back to the roots of music where artists played live and had their songs taken that way. The magazine will idealy appeal to a main audience of young people trying to discover new music through live performance and new, 'fresh' released recordings.
My reader profile: Male and female, aged 16-20+, focusing on upcoming and unreleased music e.g. Ed Sheeran before he became famous genre focus. Main interst in 'new releases', upcoming festivals, artists and interviews.
Ideas for front cover:
Kind of the 'next Ed Sheeran/Newton Faulkner' image as both of these artists shot to fame through festival 'gigs'. The image of a new artist will be some thing unfamiliar HOWEVER the use of comparrisons will spark interest within the reader.
Other features: new releases, gigs, artist bios
What do I need to do to achieve this?
1. Find model and location - James Wollcott (local unsigned artist)
2. Images from local gigs,
3. Interview James for authentic musician interview
Title of magazine - Record
Main Cover Line - Could he be the next Ed Sheeran? James Wollcott or EXCLUSIVE: James Wollcott followed by quote "..." relating to another artist
Ideas for contents page:
- interviews
- music charts
- gigs for the summer
- record review
- other new music
- fashion
- guitars, microphones, other equiptment deals
Ideas for double page spread: Interview with the new artist (James Wollcott), asking into their story, influences, advertisement for them.. POSITIVE DESCRIPTION
