Reader Profile
From my results it was clear that a huge majority of those who did my survey were female however i found the results very interesting as infact most people would want a music magazine that would appeal to a variety of genders, within the young adult (16 to 29) age range. I also discovered that quite a lot of people who read magazines tend to focus there attention to rock magazines such as 'Kerrang!' or 'Rolling Stones Magazine', only a small majority appeared to be interested in reader about pop or top 20 music and i believe that this is because we see information about this genre more frequently through other medias such as the radio or television. Circulation of the magazine was an even result between monthly, fortnightly and weekly and the large majority agreed that a magazine with a lower price would ideally be more appealing to. When looking through the results of genre most prefered many people prefered the idea of Top 20 music however I knew that this would probably make my magazine less successful as my results already showed that very few people actually read magazines based on that genre.
From my results i decided to focus on a magazine genre that was different and had not been done before as indie/alternative/acoustic music was my 2nd most popular result from my questionnaire. Many young people now a days enjoy festival music - experiencing live, new and interesting music that is not heard in the mainstream charts allowing young people to explore music for themselves. This is why i have chosen to focus my magazine on the unsigned and live music genre but still including elements from popular culture to captivate a wider audience.
